Beonos is a tiny ESP32-powered add-in board that makes a vintage Bang & Olufsen Beogram turntable controllable over wi-fi.

  • Play, Pause, and Stop remotely, from Home Assistant, Sonos, or your own custom integration.
  • See current status, the device reports whether the turntable is playing, paused, or not spinning.

The ESPHome firmware for Beonos has built-in support for Sonos speakers with line-in. Press Play on the speaker or in the Sonos app to play (or pause) the turntable. Press Play on the turntable to automatically switch to line-in input on the Sonos.

Beonos hardware design and software are both free and open-source. Buying from Wells Workshop supports the original creator (me!) and continued development of this and other projects.

Configurations

  • DIY kit — the board with everything soldered except the XIAO ESP32-C6 and the buck module (both optional add-ons, but not otherwise included).
  • DIY kit, pre-soldered — the same kit with the board already built, XIAO and buck module included. Wire it into the turntable and switch it on.

What’s inside

  • 1× Beonos PCB
  • The pre-soldered kit comes with the latest firmware pre-installed. The DIY kit flashes over USB-C via ESPHome or your tool of choice.
  • Installation guide (written and video)
